What is Citeshine (citeshine.com)?
citeshine.com appears to be an online store/domain that has had limited publicly available information. I could not find evidence of a well-established company or service operating under the name “Citeshine.”
The public report cuts off at: “The domain citeshine.com was reported as”
The other named prompt in the same report (zh07: 引耀 Citeshine 是什么公司?
That Chinese answer describes a Shopify store record for citeshine.com, domain registered December 2021, phone cases and accessories.

An assistant does not invent a product description from nothing, and it also does not read only the homepage you rewrote last week. It assembles a sentence from pages it retrieved. The page can be yours. It can also be a directory that still describes a previous owner of the domain.
The page behind our own wrong answer
The excerpts above are the two prompts that used our name. The Chinese one, which the public file quotes at more length, says citeshine.com had a Shopify record, registered December 2021, selling phone cases and accessories. The source label in the tool output is Merchant Genius. The English excerpt is shorter because the published file cuts off. We do not complete it.
So the “answer” was a stale commercial record about the domain, not a description of the company that owns it now. Correcting our homepage was necessary and not sufficient: the record lives on someone else’s site. We said so on our site, in llms.txt and in structured data. We have not published a later run, so this paragraph is not a claim that ChatGPT has dropped the old description.
What we put in a fix list
For each wrong or missing claim we separate:
- A page you control: your site, your docs, your structured data, your public profiles.
- A page someone else controls, where you can ask for a correction. We do not pretend they must agree.
- A page you cannot change. The list says that, instead of assigning it a fake action.
That written list is part of the $99 Starter, together with a competitor comparison and the cited-source list, across all six engines and up to 10 buyer questions. The free sample is shorter: ChatGPT only, up to 5 questions, and a summary of whether you are mentioned, what is wrong, and which sources are cited. It does not include the written fix list. Ongoing help implementing the list, including writing to third parties, is quoted separately. We have not published that price. We do not publish negative pages about competitors.
FAQ
Did ChatGPT link to Merchant Genius?
The export recorded the source label Merchant Genius. It did not record a clickable URL. The report's most-cited-domains table is (none) for that reason. We do not invent the URL.
If I change my homepage, will the answer change?
Sometimes the homepage is the page being quoted, and sometimes it is not. On our run the label was a third-party record about the previous domain owner. We updated our own site the same day. We have not published a re-test, so we do not know if the answer moved.
Do you contact the third-party site for me?
That is part of ongoing work, which does not have a published price. The Starter audit identifies the claim and the source label and lists the fixes in priority order. It does not include us contacting the directory unless we agree that separately.
